Grubstake to Grocery Store: Supplying the Klondike, 1897-1907
by Margaret Archibald
Appendix G. Categories of Merchants in Dawson, 1901-06.
The information given in this appendix is drawn from Alaska-Yukon
business directories for these years. Because the only available copy of
the 1903 directory is an extract, the figures in certain categories are
incomplete; these figures are marked by double asterisks. A single
asterisk denotes an overlap; that is, the fact that some merchants are
entered in both wholesale and retail categories, or that they sold both
confectionery and tobacco.
