Saint-Louis Mission National Historic Site lies on a tableland beside the Hogg River, 3 kilometres inland from Georgian Bay, near Victoria Harbour, Ontario. This 2-hectare archaeological site was an open field when it was investigated in the first half of the 20th century. Since that time the field has been left fallow, while part of the site area has grown into a mixed hardwood forest and the rest has been planted with pine trees. There are mounds and surface depressions indicative of past archaeological investigations. Official recognition refers to the limits of the village and mission as defined by the palisade on the south and west sides, and by the riverbanks on the east and north sides.

Située près de Victoria Harbour, en Ontario, le lieu historique national de la Mission-Saint-Louis s’étend sur un haut plateau le long de la rivière Hogg, à 3 kilomètres à l’intérieur des terres, près de la baie Georgienne. Ce site archéologique, qui couvre une zone de 2 hectares, était en plein champ lorsqu’il a été l’objet de fouilles, au cours de la première moitié du 20e siècle. Depuis lors, le champ a été laissé en jachère, une partie des lieux a donné naissance à une forêt mixte de bois franc et le reste a été planté de pins. Des tertres et dépressions indiquent l’emplacement de fouilles archéologiques passées. La reconnaissance officielle fait référence à l'enceinte du village ayant abrité la mission, délimité, côtés sud et ouest, par la palissade, côtés est et nord, par les berges de la rivière.
